Energy Assistance


The Black Diamond Community Center is authorized to disburse vouchers up to $150 to help pay shut-off notices for low-income families. The funds come from the Salvation Army in January and last until late spring or early summer, depending on supply and demand. In order to qualify, a client must have the following:

-Urgent or Final Notice from Puget Sound Energy
  • A regular power bill will not be accepted by the Salvation Army's Finance Department!

-Social Security Cards for EVERY person in the household

-Medical Coupons to verify children living in the house
  • School records may be accepted if medical coupons are not available

-Proof of Monthly Income - any of the below forms:
  • Pay stubs for the most recent month
  • Award letter for DSHS, TANF, SSI, Social Security

-Proof of Disability for those living alone that:
  • Do not have children OR
  • Are not at least age 60

In summary, clients must be from low-income household that have at least one of the following:
senior citizen, disability, or young children.
