The Black Diamond Community Center has a variety of health programs for seniors:
The Walkers - Not a morning person? Think again! Join the Walkers every Monday and Friday at 7:30am to take an hour stroll through Black Diamond. We have two groups to suit different walking speeds, so if you're slow, you'll fit right in somewhere! Afterwards enjoy a warm cup of coffee at the center. Wednesday walks take place at the Wilderness trail at Four Corners, just behind the Do-It Center.
Foot Care with Visiting Nurse Services is available on the first Thursday of each month. 30 minute appointments are available, and should be made in advance over the phone. The nurse is available from 9am until 2pm. Cost is $22 and a sliding scale is available for those with limited income. Please bring your towel with you!
The Black Diamond Fire Department comes to BDCC on Thursdays around 11am to conduct blood pressure checks. This service is free and does not require appointments!
Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets every Friday at 10am in the pool room. This group of gals functions as a great support group for those with a variety of weight goals, maintaining current weight or losing any given amount of weight. The group meets from 10am until 11:30, and celebrates accomplishments afterwards by going out to lunch!
The Health Fair comes each year in September. We have a variety of vendors from the area come with lots of information - brochures, freebies, and more! The health fair begins at 10am and ends at 1pm. Vendors include AARP, Senior Services of Seattle King County and Senior Rights Assistance, just to name a few!
If you would like information or to participate in any of these activities, please call Rachel Pitzel at 360-886-2418, or stop by during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
