Adult Day Health

Friday is kind of our favorite day of the week, and we're going to tell you why. On Fridays from 10am to 2pm, we have a small group of homebound and disabled seniors who come to be spoiled rotten by the staff at the Black Diamond Community Center. We start out the day with some goodies, games and chatting, do some light chair aerobics at 11, have an incredible meal designed that morning by our head chef Judith Black, and do some art work after lunch.

The intent of this program is two help out two diverse populations. The first population is the client, either homebound or disabled, to get out, have some fun, and enjoy an incredibly delicious and nutritious meal. The second population is the caretaker, if there is one, to give them some time off for themselves, take a nap, go shopping, do chores, whatever he or she pleases!

For those who are picky about what they eat, here is an idea of what our lunches are like. The first course is a fresh salad, usually with romaine lettuce and very colorful vegetables like red, yellow and orange bell peppers, tomato, as basics, and anything else we can get our hands on. The main course consists of a healthy protein source, such as chicken breast or salmon filet for example. This is usually baked in some way, with some elaborate kind of noodle or rice dish. The third course is a rather simple yet satisfying dessert, always with a fruit salad. Now, for those who have allergies to certain kinds of foods, as quite a few people do have them, please let us know and we will alter our menu accordingly. After all, this day is for you!
